Women's Pomaika'i Triblend Tee
Pōmaika‘i nā mea a pau - And everything is blessed.
This year’s school theme takes its inspiration from two sources: the Christian scripture of 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” and the beloved Hawaiian hymn, ‘Ekolu Mea Nui, a Sunday School song composed by Robert Nāwāhine: “Three important things in the world: Faith, hope and love, love is the best; And everything is blessed…”
The theme of faith, mana‘o‘i‘o, is depicted in our place-based symbols such as the stained glass and angles reminiscent of the roofline of Thurston Memorial Chapel. The theme of hope, mana‘olana, is shown in the orange of the sunrise, bringing with it the hope of a new day. Love, aloha, the greatest of the three virtues anchors the logo with the ever-present flowing waters of Kapunahou. The white manu-o-kū that nests and makes its home in Punahou’s trees is a marker for ocean voyagers of hoped-for land ahead and also represents a return of the school’s new President to the islands.
